Wall Heating
Radiant heating technology is used for heating indoor as well as outdoor areas. This technology existed from days that date back to the Romans. They used hypocaust heating. Under floor radiant technology has been used in Korea and China. The heat is emitted from a warm object i.e., Wall, floor or overhead panel. In this system objects are heated rather than heating the air directly.
The wall heating system distributes the heat evenly and perfectly in a room. The irradiation offers a comfortable and a healthy climate. Wall heating offers a lot of advantages like even temperature all over the body, no cold feet and no respiratory problems. A little raise of temperature forms a warm climate against the external cold that was absorbed by the walls.
Wall heating system consists of inlaid pipes, laid in gypsum plaster boards inside the walls. They should be heat insulated and as the insulation charges are very high, wall heating system is not widely used.
Wall heating system is also known as low temperature system. The heating surface in this system is larger and requires a minimum temperature to reach the equal level of hot atmosphere than the other heating systems. The temperature required to heat the surface depends on the size and pattern of the room. It varies from 84-95° F or 29-35° C. For warehousing, production facilities and sport centers mostly overhead panels are used for heating. These heating panels hang over from the ceiling and this system requires high temperatures.
Using solar energy is another option which last for more than thirty years and saves on energy bills. In this wall heating system the radiations of the sun are stored as heat energy. It is a maintenance and pollution free process that reduces the carbon dioxide emissions. It solves the power shortage problems. It is an unglazed air heating system installed on the wall. The solar panel heats the cold and fresh air which is required in industrial, institutional and commercial buildings. Solar panels are metal panels and available in different sizes and colors.
Solar wall heating is a low cost option than any other wall heating system. For solar installations, 30% of tax credit will be granted to the industrial and commercial clients in the USA. It may vary in from state to state. $70 per square meter is offered as an incentive by the federal eco energy of Canada. The surface of a square foot of a solar wall can produce around 500W on a sunny day.
