Heater Thermostat

The heaters functions with the help of a thermostat, which is undoubtedly the most crucial aspect in this device. This is so because the heater thermostat is a device that regulates the temperature of the system. In Greek, thermo means hot and statos mean 'a standing'. Usually it comes with a power cord.  The plug in thermostat is a better option since they measure temperature accurately.

Thermostat is required to maintain the required temperature in the device. It gives you signals when the temperature rises above the required level or below the desired level.  Whenever you install a thermostat, you need to adjust it for the system you are using.

There are many types of Heater Thermostat in the market. 

Base board Heater Thermostat

This can either be connected directly to the unit or can be mounted on the wall.  In this the line connection is connected to feeder wires and the load connection is connected to the baseboard heater wires.  If you have baseboard heater, you need to go for this

Space heater thermostat

This is used for space heaters.  Space heaters are usually portable and you can move it wherever you go. You can use space heaters without thermostat as well but then you have to control the temperature manually, which could be a challenging task. 

Electrical heater thermostat

To work on the electric heater you need electric heater thermostat.  Usually electromechanical and electronic thermostats works on gas, oil, and hydronic heating systems. 

Water heater thermostat

These thermostats are required to meet the demand for the high voltage water heaters.  It is used for greater electrical integrity. To save the energy you need to lower the thermostat.  Along with the thermal water heater, you have gas water heater too. The same heater thermostat can be used for gas as well as thermal water heater.

These entire thermostats are either digital or analog.   A digital thermostat can give convenience of schedule. You can set different temperature at different time of the day.  An analog thermostat uses a mercury switch and you cannot set schedule on it.

Whenever you use these kinds of items, make sure you use it safely.  You need to select thermostat according to the type of heater.  Check whether all connections are secure.  Always turn power off when you are doing any work like repairing or installing.  Thermostat is necessary for all kinds of heater from the safety point of view.  If you are going away for more than two days then it is safer to keep your thermostat at a low temperature or just put it off.
