Floor Heater
Home heating systems plays a very important role in places where it is cold most of the time during the year. These systems have become a necessity of life in such places as it is very difficult to survive in places where the temperature is below 0 degree Celsius. In olden days people had fire places installed at their houses but the place was usually for burning wood and was placed at the corner of the house. It never gave enough heat to cover the whole room. If you ever needed to warm your self, all you had to do is to sit next to the fire place. A floor heater is the most suitable option under such circumstances.
These systems heat the floor and then the room. There are different types of floor heaters. For heating we can use gas, oil, coal or electricity. The basic concept of heat is that it rises and will always move form a hot place to a cold place. Floor heaters are made keeping in mind this concept.
There are electrical floor heaters as well as water floor heater. You need to choose the right one depending on the type of flooring you have at your home.
Water floor heaters use boilers. Boilers heat the water and then the pump circulates the hot water in a plastic pipe which is installed under the floor. There are hydronic floor heating systems which use also uses water to heat the floor. The advantage of this system is you can use number of energy sources to heat water for heating the floor like gas water heater, electric boiler, wood boiler, heat pump and even solar collector. However you can use solar collector only during the summer season.
Electric under floor heater sends the hot air thru cables or mats and can be controlled by a thermostat. It needs very less maintenance and is absolutely noise and dust free.
There are solar heaters which can be used for floor heating. In the olden days of Greek and Roman people used wood fired floor heater to heat the bath room floor.
Other conventional home heating systems heat the ceiling first and then the floor. Under floor heating systems warms up the room from the bottom. The lower portion is warmer than the upper portion which is good for your body too. As per the new research floor heating systems that have a good thermal storage performance can be used during the night time saving a lot of energy.
